We are seeking a part-time volunteer teaching assistant to aid with the learning of our students in order to foster growth, respect, and the attainment of basic English skills necessary to live in the United States.
Responsibilities:
- Working with the teacher in order to assist in the lesson
- Filling in for the teacher when the primary teacher is unavailable
- Working one-on-one with students who may need additional help both during and after classes
- Assisting the teacher in observing and monitoring the progress of individual students
- Keeping students safe and taking necessary precautions to ensure their safety and the safety of the center
- Supporting an engaging learning environment with both the teachers and the students
Capability:
- Must be able to perform work in a classroom setting
- Accompany with students on field trips off site is preferred
- Able to speak Mandarin and Chinese
- Require mobility to reach, grasp and manipulate small objects, such as common office machines
- Requires vision to read small print
- Mobility to stand, walk, reach, and bend
- Able to lift books, supplies, and packages which do not exceed 30 pounds

- Providing for individualized and small group learning environments in order to adapt instruction for the level and learning styles of individual students
- Establishing and maintaining model student behavior to create a functional learning environment in the classroom
- Establishing clear objectives for all lessons and communicating those objectives to students
- Employing a variety of instructional methods and materials appropriate for meeting those objectives
- Regularly assessing student accomplishments and maintaining a record of progress, achievement, and social behavior of individual students
- Selecting and requisitioning books, materials, and supplies
- Planning, coordinating, directing, and supervising instructional aides who may be assisting you while teaching
Capability:
- Preferred to have a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Must be able to perform work in a classroom setting.
